1. EPA Summer Internship
2. UGA Entomology Undergraduate Club
My name is Katherine Hagan and I’m a lab manager with Carmen Blubaugh over in the UGA Department of Entomology. One aspect of my position is increasing undergraduate involvement, and we’re working on starting a club for students interested in entomology. We’re hoping to recruit a wide range of majors and provide unified space for students to learn more about entomology, develop skills as students/scientists, and have fun along the way.
Our first meeting is March 9th at 3:00 in the Biological Sciences courtyard area.
We’ll also be scheduling a Zoom call for those students unable to attend in person.
Please see the attached flyer for details!
3. Schwarzman Scholars Virtual Information Session- A Call for Future Leaders
Schwarzman Scholars is pleased to announce a virtual info session for prospective applicants. Anchored in a fully-funded 11-month Master’s Degree in Global Affairs at Beijing’s Tsinghua University, we are seeking high-caliber applicants who will represent the world’s next generation of leaders.
Schwarzman Scholars, inspired by the Rhodes Scholarship, is a program designed to help future leaders meet the challenges of the 21st century by preparing them to better understand China’s culture, economy, governance, and motivations. A Schwarzman Scholar should demonstrate extraordinary leadership potential, the ability to anticipate paradigm changes, strong intellectual capacity, and exemplary character. We have had six scholars from UGA, and we hope others will follow in their footsteps!
If the last year has taught us anything, it is that we are all far more interconnected than we ever realized. Global challenges require global solutions and leaders who are well-informed and well-equipped to develop them. With a front row seat to global crisis leadership and practical opportunities to construct interdisciplinary solutions, Schwarzman Scholars are better positioned to succeed and more in demand around the world than ever before.
Schwarzman Scholars is open to students and young professionals between the ages of 18 and 28 years old, regardless of nationality, who are proficient in English and have obtained an undergraduate degree. Applicants from all academic disciplines and career paths are eligible. For more details on eligibility, refer to our website.
For the next cohort, this unparalleled opportunity will begin in Beijing in August 2022 at Schwarzman College.

6. Southern Teachers
UGA Virtual College of Education Career Fair 2021
Hosted on Handshake
Thursday, March 18, 2021
11:30 AM – 2:30 PM
Southern Teachers helps college graduates find great jobs in excellent K-12 schools. We are coming to meet your best and brightest and talk with them about teaching in college-preparatory, private/independent schools.
The teaching environment in these private/independent schools can be wonderful because of their small class sizes, their college-bound students, and their close-knit communities. At independent schools, quality is not just about test scores and college acceptances; it’s also the unique way that teachers maximize the potential of their students.
ST works with over 650 schools around the South, and they list thousands of jobs with us each year. While successful progress through a teacher-education program is essential for some of these jobs (e.g., for elementary teachers), many positions do not require a teaching certificate. Math majors can be hired to teach math; Spanish majors can teach Spanish, etc. Candidates do, however, need a strong academic record and the personal characteristics that will enable them to manage and motivate K-12 students. To summarize: Teacher certification is not required for most jobs.
